Volkswagen’s Taigun and Virtus are set for a 2026 facelift with ADAS technology trickling down from high-end models. Here’s my insider take on what works, what might not, and whether you can really rely on it in Indian conditions.
Straight up, the Volkswagen ADAS plan doesn’t have a confirmed timeline yet. But yes, the company has confirmed that both the Taigun and Virtus will get a facelift in CY26. From my experience, a facelift isn’t just about looks it usually comes with some updates to software and features too. I was chatting with a dealer recently, and he said Expect a lot of updates on top-end variants, similar to the Kushaq, but slightly upgraded.
Top-down Effect How ADAS Will Roll Out
VW’s approach seems smart. They first introduced ADAS in high-end models like the Tiguan R-Line, Golf GTI, and the Tayron R-Line, and now it’s trickling down. Basically, top-end gets the tech first, then mass-market models follow. And yeah, I remember once testing Tiguan’s lane assist in Mumbai traffic it got a bit confused. That’s when I realized high-end systems take time to fully adapt to Indian roads. The same learning will now go into the Taigun and Virtus.

The timeline isn’t officially out, but I estimate that four of VW’s India 2.0 products will enter the next generation after 2027. And honestly, this next-gen will be a big step. A three-row version is also rumored, which will bring a completely new angle to this segment. From my experience, whenever VW launches something new, features and refinement see a noticeable jump. But patience is key systems always take time to adapt to Indian traffic and road conditions.
