Back in 2021, I noticed new software within the Altroz. First week quality, 2nd week opposite digicam iced over. Dealer said, “Sir, update will come.” Update got here… three months later.
The facelift gets the Nexon-style steering wheel. Feels premium, looks good. But door pads and plastics remain the same. Not cheap, not overly premium acceptable for this price bracket.
Mileage Claims vs Reality
Claimed mileage is again above 20 km/l. I remember a Punch owner in 2022 telling me Sir, with AC on, it doesn’t go beyond 14. That’s city driving reality. Facelift or not, physics doesn’t change.
Safety Where Tata Often Wins
Safety has always been Tata’s strength, and the Punch Facelift continues that. 5-star rating, airbags, stability control all present. No complaints there. Price and Positioning That’s Where the Game Is
Price will go up, no doubt. Facelift, more features. But if the price moves too close to the Nexon, it could create confusion. Punch’s success was due to a clear gap affordable SUV feel. Disturbing that gap is risky.
From my perspective, the Tata Punch Facelift is for first-time car buyers who take safety seriously. Enthusiast drivers not really. And yes, when visiting the showroom, drive it yourself rather than trusting the sales pitch. Brochures hide a lot.

The Punch Facelift isn’t a revolution. Not even a full evolution. It’s a sensible update. Tata played safe. Some will like that. If you already own a Punch, there’s no strong reason to upgrade. If you’re looking for a new small SUV, it’s worth putting on your shortlist but keep your expectations realistic. It’s called Punch, but the car is calm and composed.
