Nissan Recall 443,000 Cars Pulled Back for Engine Defect in US

Gaurav Jha • 03 Jul 2025, 04:42 PM IST • Automotive Industry News

Reason Behind the Recall

Nissan has initiated a recall of 443,899 vehicles in the US following the discovery of a significant manufacturing defect related to the engine. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the flaw could damage the engine or even cause it to stall completely while driving, increasing the chances of a crash. While this issue is expected to affect only around 1.2% of the vehicles, Nissan is taking no chances and is recalling all potentially impacted models to ensure customer safety and prevent any possible engine failures.

Models Impacted by the Recall

The recall isn’t limited to just one model. Several well-known Nissan and Infiniti vehicles are affected, including the Nissan Rogue, Altima, Infiniti QX50, and Infiniti QX55. All affected models will undergo thorough inspection at Nissan service centers to make sure owners aren’t faced with any sudden breakdowns or safety hazards.

What Happens Next?

For any vehicles with the defect, Nissan will provide a free inspection and repair service. Owners will be notified directly via email, phone call, or even a letter, informing them whether their vehicle is included in the recall. Once notified, owners can take their car to their nearest Nissan dealership for free repairs.

Steps for Vehicle Owners

Owners should have their Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) handy. Using this VIN, they can quickly check on Nissan’s official website or the NHTSA website to see if their vehicle is included in the recall. If their car is listed, it’s important to act quickly and visit a dealership for inspection before any major damage or accidents occur.

Safety Precaution

Engine failure is not just an expensive fix—it’s also a major safety hazard. A faulty engine can lead to road accidents and put lives at risk. Nissan’s recall is aimed at customer safety, and all affected owners are urged to respond immediately to the recall notice. If a vehicle is covered under the recall, visiting the service center as soon as possible is strongly advised.
