New Audi RS5 Arrives With 630 bhp Hybrid V6 Power
Audi Sport launches the RS5 2026, combining 630 bhp V6 hybrid power, advanced tech, and stunning design in a high-performance PHEV.
Audi just shook things up. The new RS5 is finally here. And guess what? It’s Audi Sport’s first-ever high-performance plug-in hybrid (PHEV). Not just any RS model. It’s the RS4’s successor. Confusing name rules, yeah but the car itself? Stunning. You can get it as a sedan or an Avant (estate). Both look aggressive. Both promise serious power.
Power and Engine Technology
Let’s start with the engine. RS5 630 bhp. Sounds loopy, right? It’s powered through a 2.9-litre twin-turbo V6. But that’s just part of the story. A one hundred thirty kW electric motor joins in Together, 630 bhp. 825 Nm torque. Boom. The engine is now Euro 7 ready, running on a Miller Cycle. NOx down. Efficiency up. Plus, variable geometry turbos and water-cooled intercoolers. Small changes, big difference.
And here’s the cool tech. The electric motor also powers the rear axle with a torque vectoring unit. 15 milliseconds. That’s all it takes to decide which wheel needs more power. Corners? Glued to the road. Gearbox? 8-speed automatic. Drives like a dream. Seriously.
Battery and Electric Range
Battery life matters. RS5 has a 25.9 kWh pack over the rear axle. Pure EV mode? Over 80 km. Enough for city drives without touching petrol. The battery also powers a second rear motor integrated into the torque vectoring unit. Grip? Amazing. Acceleration? Brutal. Smoothness? Check.
City driving? Go electric. Highway? Let the V6 roar. Best of both worlds. It’s hybrid done right.
Design and Styling
Step out. RS5 is wider. 80 mm over the A5. Bulging fenders, aggressive aero bits. 20 or 21-inch alloys. Front? LED DRLs in Matrix headlamps. Rear? Dual exhaust, diffuser, tiny lip spoiler. Simple but intimidating. People will stare. Guaranteed.
Inside, tech overload. 11.9-inch Virtual Cockpit. 14.5-inch touchscreen. Passenger gets 10.9-inch display. Heads-up optional. Five cabin designs. Leather-free if you want. Mix and match. Make it personal.
Performance and Handling
Weight? Yeah, it’s heavy. 2,355 kg sedan, 2,370 kg Avant. Almost like a pickup. But don’t judge. 0-100 km/h in 3.6 seconds. Top speed 285 km/h with Sport Pack. Suspension? 5-link with twin-valve shocks. Brakes? 420 mm front, 400 mm rear. Carbon ceramic? Optional. Corners? Stick like glue. It handles like a dream. Against BMW M4, AMG C63 it can hold its own. Feels alive every time you push it.

India Launch and Prospects
Europe first. India? Maybe. Audi hasn’t said. But think about it. M4 and AMG C63 buyers in India they’d love this. Standard A5 comes this year, so RS5 might follow. Fingers crossed.
