JSW MG Motor India has finally teased its new SUV, the Majestor. Launch set for 12 February. Seedhi baat, this one looks serious. I mean, it’s aiming straight at the Toyota Fortuner. Popular, reliable, all that but MG isn’t holding back.
Exterior First Look
The teaser shows the front end in all its glory. Three-piece LED lights. Right-angled DRLs. Horizontally slatted blacked-out grille. Silver skid plate too. Looks sharp, no doubt. Interiors? Nobody knows yet. But rumors are floating panoramic sunroof, 12.3-inch infotainment, Level 2 ADAS. Sounds fancy. And yeah, MG seems to want the tech and comfort boxes ticked. Reminds me of when I first saw the Hector back in 2018 looked premium but software froze mid-drive. Hope Majestor fixes that.
Engine and Performance
Under the hood, expect 4WD. Shares powertrain with the Gloster. MG’s 2.0L twin-turbo diesel engine pushing 213bhp and 478Nm torque. 8-speed automatic. Fortuner’s 2.8L diesel does 201bhp and 500Nm, 6AT. Seedhi baat, a bit more punch here. MG SUVs always felt roomy, right? I remember one long drive in the Gloster ride so comfy, I almost forgot the miles. Let’s see if Majestor carries that same vibe.

Why It Matters
MG SUVs have this knack for being spacious and practical. Now the Majestor is stepping in with Fortuner in sight. Could it shake the segment? Possibly. But, real-world performance and after-sales will matter a lot. If MG pulls it off, this SUV might just make people rethink their choices. Exciting times ahead. Seriously.
