Expected pricing? Somewhere between Rs. 40 lakh and Rs. 45 lakh. That places it proper within the firing line of the Toyota Fortuner. Also brushing shoulders with the Skoda Kodiaq, Jeep Meridian, and the imminent Volkswagen Tayron. Not an easy crowd to fight with. At all. Positioned above the Gloster, the Majestor will now sit at the top of MG’s SUV ladder in India. Their flagship. The one that has to prove a point.

Old-School Toughness Underneath

Here’s where it gets interesting. The Majestor is built on a proper ladder-frame platform, derived from the global Maxus D90. That means body-on-frame. Heavy-duty roots. The kind that Fortuner buyers love.

MG’s teaser videos showed the SUV climbing up rough terrain at Mount Japfu in Nagaland. Mud. Rocks. Slopes. It looked convincing. But teaser videos always do, right? It will get terrain response modes like Rock, Sand and Snow. Useful? Yes. Especially for people who actually leave the city. Powering the MG Majestor SUV is predicted to be a 2.0-litre 4-cylinder twin-faster diesel engine. Same unit as the Gloster. It produces 213 bhp and 478 Nm of torque. On paper, that’s strong. Step inside and the story changes a bit. The cabin is expected to feel premium and tech-focused. A large touchscreen infotainment system dominates the dashboard. There’s a fully digital instrument cluster. Multi-functional steering wheel. The usual high-end bits.

MG is likely to offer connected car features, a panoramic sunroof, powered and ventilated seats, three-zone automatic climate control and a premium audio system. That’s a long list. Very long. And yes, buyers in this price bracket expect all of this. Nothing less.

Safety Loaded On Paper

The MG Majestor is set to offer Level 2 ADAS, a 360-degree camera and a full safety suite. Lane keep assist. Adaptive cruise control. The works. Interestingly, the SUV is already on sale in Kuwait under the name Rakan. So technically, it’s not entirely new to the world. It also made its Indian debut at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025. I remember people crowding around it. Many were surprised by its sheer size.

Now the big question remains can it truly challenge the Fortuner? Because in this segment, it’s not just about specs. It’s about trust. Long-term reliability. Resale value. And that image factor which Toyota has built over decades. Tomorrow we’ll get the official answers. But one thing is clear. MG isn’t playing safe anymore. They’re aiming straight at the top.
