To be honest, when I first saw the Maruti Suzuki XL6, I thought huh, this looks different. Feels a bit premium, sure. But get inside, start driving, and you realize Maruti still likes to play safe. Sometimes I felt, yaar, take a little risk, be a bit daring with the design. Simple.
Funny thing I went to the dealer showroom for a test drive. Sales guy says Sir, just start and feel it. I start, take the first turn the suspension feels a bit firm, steering is light. I said This feels weird, why isn’t it smoother? He smiles Sir, Maruti signature reliable, a bit conservative. True. He’s got a point.
Driving Experience and Engine
The engine is balanced. No surprises there. But, full-throttle highway sports car feeling? Forget it. My own long drive experience family, luggage, AC blasting engine did its job. Fuel efficiency dropped, obviously. But no complaints. Just one thing turbo lag shows up sometimes. Small hesitation. Not something showroom shows you. You notice it only when roads get real.

Interior and Comfort
Interior is roomy. Middle row captain seats? Comfortable. Rear row? Small people fine, tall ones feel tight. Storage space okay, but glove box and cup holders shallow. Story time once my coffee cup fell straight into the footwell. Messy. Cleaned it up. Small things. Buyers notice.

Infotainment looks modern. Touch response decent. But software updates can be annoying. Friend’s XL6 Bluetooth refused to connect. At service center: update pending. Small, yes. But annoying. Buyers should know. Trust me, this is real life, not brochure numbers.
Fuel Efficiency and Real-World Performance
Maruti claims XL6 mileage is very good. Reality? City driving slightly less, highway decent. Old experience with Swift diesel comes to mind claimed 25 kmpl, gave 18-19. So take XL6 numbers with a pinch of salt. Always do your own check. Simple math.
Design and Road Presence
Front looks bold. Grill and headlamp combo fresh. Side profile elongated. Wheels sporty. But rear tail lamps boring. Yaar, could have more character. Personally, I think a tiny tweak and it would pop. Road presence okay. Not wow, but solid.

Final Thoughts
XL6? Safe MPV with premium touch. Reliable, family-friendly, long drives no problem. But predictable too. Software quirks. Small design compromises. Want flashy design or adventurous drive? XL6 might disappoint. But resale value and Maruti trust strong points. Don’t ignore.

One last thing test drive is must. Every XL6 feels different on real roads. Load, AC, road type matters. And honesty of showroom staff varies. From my 10 years experience, some things you only learn when you actually drive, not when you read specs. Real talk.
