Today has become a historic day for the Indian automobile industry. Maruti Suzuki has launched its first electric SUV Maruti Suzuki e-VITARA. This Made-in-India car was flagged off by Prime Minister Narendra Modi from Hansalpur plant in Gujarat. The special thing is that this car will not only run on Indian roads but will also be exported to more than 100 countries including Japan.
New era of electric cars in India
Electric Vehicle market in India is growing rapidly and the government is also promoting EV policy. The launch of e-VITARA is a big step in this direction. It has been completely designed and manufactured in India, due to which the country is moving towards becoming an EV export hub. Its demand is also being seen in countries like Europe and Japan.
Indian customers were waiting for a reliable and affordable electric SUV for a long time. e-VITARA lives up to this expectation. Its launch will help the Indian EV industry gain global recognition.
Powerful battery and range
e-VITARA comes with two battery options. The first is a 49 kWh battery pack, which gives a range of up to 500 km. At the same time, the second 61 kWh variant gives a range of about 620 km.
The base model is with front wheel drive (FWD) while the top model is equipped with all-wheel drive (AWD) and dual motor. This car can prove to be very useful for people traveling long distances. With the increase in EV charging infrastructure, its use will become easier in the coming years.
HEARTECT-e platform and local battery supply
This SUV is built on the HEARTECT-e platform, which Suzuki has developed in collaboration with Toyota and Daihatsu. Battery electrodes from the TDSG plant built in India are being used in it.
Due to local battery production, India will now contribute up to 80% to the EV supply chain. This will not only make the country self-reliant, but will also increase India's credibility in the world of Automobile News and Technology.
Safety and modern technology
Keeping safety in mind, 7 airbags have been provided in e-VITARA. Apart from this, ADAS features like lane keep assist, blind spot monitoring and collision mitigation braking are also present.
This SUV is also not behind in terms of technology. It has a 25.65 cm touchscreen, digital cluster, wireless charging and USB-C port. All these features make it a smart car for both youth and family.
Design and space
The length of e-VITARA is 4,275 mm, width 1,800 mm and height 1,635 mm. The wheelbase of 2,700 mm gives it more space and a comfortable travel experience.
The design of the SUV is modern and sporty, which is suitable for both city and highway. The price has not been disclosed at the time of launch, but it is being speculated that it will prove to be affordable for mid-segment buyers.
India's EV Future
Maruti Suzuki e-VITARA is not just a car but a big step towards India's electric mobility. In the coming time, when the charging network will be better, such vehicles will prove to be even more useful for the common people.
India is no longer just a car manufacturing country but is becoming a global center for Electric Car and EV exports.
