So, here’s the thing Maruti Suzuki is testing the facelifted Brezza, and guess what? There’s an underbody CNG tank this time. Yeah, the one that frees up boot space. Makes it more practical for family trips. Finally, right? Looks like this will be part of the MY26 Brezza.
Honestly, CNG cars always had one problem bulky tanks. They eat up the boot like nothing else. Tata and Hyundai are trying twin-cylinder layouts. But Maruti went a bit different. Underfloor tank. Smart. I remember testing a Swift CNG back in 2015. Dealer said Full tank? 350 km easy. Yeah, right. Real world? 280 km max. So, I’m keeping a little caution here. Always.
Design and Spy Shots
The spy shots show the facelifted Brezza largely the same. Red test plates. Headlights and tail lamps look like the current model. Wheels? Blacked out completely. The major change? Underneath. That underfloor CNG tank. Boot space looks more practical now. Long drives, family trips, no sweat. And haan, the look is familiar. Comforting. A little story here once I saw a dealer struggle fitting luggage in a Swift CNG. Lesson learnt: design matters. Big time.

Engine and Performance
Engine-wise, nothing surprising. K15C 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol continues. Petrol mode gives 99 hp, 137.1 Nm torque. CNG mode? 87 hp, 121.5 Nm. Current CNG Brezza has 55-litre tank, mileage 25.51 km/kg. With underbody setup, numbers might shift slightly. Real world will differ. Always does. Short story: once I drove a CNG car on highway, mileage dropped by 10 km.
Features and Tech Upgrades
Facelift Brezza will get feature boosts too. Ventilated seats. 10.25-inch digital cluster. 10-inch touchscreen infotainment. Level 2 ADAS. Fancy. Needed. Keeps it competitive. One insider moment dealer jokingly said Testing ADAS is fun, until software glitches appear. True that. But final product usually smooth. Fingers crossed.
Bottomline underbody CNG Brezza is smart. Practical. Feature-rich. But, reality check mileage, performance, real-world usability. Test drive and tank refill cycle check recommended. From my 10 years experience, theory and reality don’t always match. Always better to see yourself.
