Maruti Fronx Gets Six Airbags as Standard – What’s Changed?
Hot on the heels of the Baleno’s safety upgrade, Maruti has given the Fronx the same treatment—six airbags are now standard across all variants. But before you get too excited, there’s a small catch: prices have gone up slightly.

Think of the Fronx as the Baleno's more adventurous cousin. It's built on the same platform but gets some nice upgrades that justify its higher price tag. For starters, it's got that rugged SUV look that's so popular these days. Under the hood, there's an optional turbocharged engine if you want some extra pep, and the interior feels just a bit more premium than what you'd find in the regular Baleno.
The big news? Maruti's finally made six airbags standard across the board. Before this update, you had to spring for the fancier Delta+ O, Zeta or Alpha trims to get that level of protection. Now even the base model comes properly equipped, which is a real win for safety-conscious buyers on a budget.
Good News for Budget-Conscious Buyers
Most Fronx customers pick the 1.2-litre petrol engine—it’s not as powerful as the turbo, but it’s more affordable. Earlier, if you wanted this engine with six airbags, you had to shell out extra for the Delta+ O variant. Now, the Delta trim gets them too, saving you around ₹15,000. Even the entry-level Sigma and Delta trims suddenly look a lot more appealing.
But There’s a Small Price Hike
Maruti isn’t giving away those extra airbags for free—prices have gone up by about 0.5%. That means the Fronx’s current ₹7.55–13.04 lakh (ex-showroom) range will now cost ₹4,000–6,000 more, depending on the variant. Not a huge jump, but something to keep in mind.

1.2L NA (90 PS) – Comes with a 5-speed manual or AMT
1.0L Turbo (100 PS) – Pairs with a 5-speed manual or 6-speed torque converter
There’s also a CNG version, but it’s manual-only.
