Mahindra BE6 Batman Edition: The Electric SUV That Turns Heads

Saurabh Kumar • 16 Aug 2025, 07:09 AM IST • Car Reviews

I'll never forget the first time I saw the BE6 Batman Edition in person. Parked under the showroom lights, its glossy black paint shimmered like Gotham City at midnight. This isn't just another electric SUV - it's Mahindra's love letter to comic book fans, and after spending a weekend with it, I'm convinced it's one of the most exciting EVs to hit Indian roads.

That First Wow Moment

The designers clearly had fun with this one. That massive Batman emblem on the grille isn't some cheap sticker - it's properly integrated into the bodywork. I ran my fingers over it and could feel the precision. The gold pinstriping along the wheel arches? Hand-painted. Even the alloy wheels have this intricate bat-wing pattern that you only notice up close.

When I opened the door, the smell of premium leather hit me immediately. The seats aren't just black - they're that rich, deep black you only get with high-quality hides. And the gold stitching? Perfectly straight, every single stitch. I found myself tracing the Batman logo embossed into the headrests like a kid discovering his first comic book.

How It Drives (When You're Not Staring At It)

Behind the wheel, the BE6 feels... special. There's this instant electric shove when you tap the accelerator that never gets old. We took it through Mumbai's worst traffic, and I was amazed at how composed it stayed over potholes. The steering's nicely weighted too - not too light, not too heavy.

The regenerative braking takes some getting used to. At first, I kept lurching forward when lifting off the pedal, but after an hour, I was driving smoothly with just one pedal most of the time. That 350-400 km range claim? In real Mumbai traffic with the AC blasting, I was seeing closer to 320 - still plenty for a week of commuting.

Little Details That Delight

Mahindra's engineers hid Easter eggs everywhere:

  • Start the car and the infotainment screen plays the Batman animated series theme

  • The ambient lighting pulses gently when you unlock the doors

  • Even the charging port cover has a subtle bat silhouette

The sound system deserves special mention. Crank up Hans Zimmer's "Why So Serious?" from The Dark Knight soundtrack and you'll swear you're in the movie.

Who's This Really For?

Let's be honest - at nearly ₹30 lakh, you're paying a premium for the Batman branding. But here's the thing: it doesn't feel gimmicky. The quality's there. The performance is there. It just happens to also make you feel like Bruce Wayne driving to a board meeting.

I showed it to three friends:

  1. A die-hard Batman collector who nearly hyperventilated

  2. An EV skeptic who admitted it "didn't look electric"

  3. My practical aunt who surprisingly loved the storage space

The Bottom Line

The BE6 Batman Edition proves electric cars can have personality. It's not the cheapest EV. It's not the most practical. But it might be the only one that makes you grin every time you walk up to it.
