Mahindra & Mahindra is on overdrive these days. Thar, Scorpio, XUV7XO, XUV3XO EV they’ve got a lot on their plate. And now 2026-27 is shaping up to be even busier with multiple SUVs. Exciting? Sure. But chaotic too. I remember last year, I was at a Mahindra showroom in Mumbai, just casually checking out the XUV3XO EV. The salesperson kept bragging about its revolutionary software. I asked if it ever froze. He blinked. Didn’t answer. That moment stuck. Makes you wonder if all these upcoming SUVs will actually deliver what they promise.

Scorpio N Facelift Fresh Face, Same Old Engine
The Scorpio N came out in 2022. Now it’s getting a mid-life facelift. Spotted the test mule myself on a highway near Pune. Looked easy, I’ll provide it that, with a brand new front grille and alloy wheels that definitely don’t make you wince. Interiors are becoming a ten.25-inch loose-status infotainment system and a completely digital device cluster. Sounds first-rate, right? Until you recollect the Scorpio N’s vintage software program bugs. That infotainment would possibly still freeze randomly, just like older models. Panoramic sunroof is a nice contact, but I’ve visible water leakage proceedings on preceding Scorpios desire they’ve constant it this time.
Under the hood, not anything new. Same 2.2-litre mHawk diesel and a couple of 0-litre mStallion petrol engines. Paired with 6-velocity manual and auto. Meh. Last year’s Thar update? Meh. Interiors got minor tweaks. Nothing dramatic outside. Now, Mahindra seems serious. Front grille stimulated with the aid of Thar Roxx, refreshed taillights, new bumpers. Ventilated seats, auto HVAC, keyless entry, wi-fi charging. Looks promising. Engines? Same 1.5-litre faster diesel, 2.2-litre mHawk diesel, 2.0-litre petrol. I drove the 2.2 diesel for per week.
Powerful, yes. But thirsty in traffic. Don’t expect miracles here.
Thar EV Finally a Game-Changer?
Now this one is interesting. Mahindra previewed the Vision T last year. 5-door Thar EV coming in 2027. Based on the NU_IQ platform. Flexible. Dual-motor AWD. Claimed range around 500 km. On paper, looks amazing. Reality check? City traffic will eat that range quickly. I’ve seen it happen before. Still, a 5-door Thar makes sense. More practical. Families might actually use it without complaints. Fingers crossed.

Vision S Compact Scorpio, Or Just Another Boxy SUV?
Vision S is the next Scorpio-family SUV. Spotted testing recently. Boxy, upright, rugged. Dashboard borrows heavily from Scorpio N. Physical buttons, analogue cluster, panoramic sunroof. Engines likely petrol and diesel. But Mahindra hasn’t shared exact details yet. From where I stand, this one might get lost in the hype. Too many SUVs. Too many promises. Could be good. Could disappear fast.

Bottom line Mahindra is ambitious. Maybe too ambitious. Multiple SUVs, EVs, facelifts. Exciting, yes. But buyer beware. Mahindra has a habit of making big promises that come with hiccups. Software glitches. Uneven interiors. Service surprises. But if they get it right? 2026-27 could be a real turning point for them. I’ll be watching. And you should too.
