So here we are again. Another big EV moment from Hyundai. At Auto China 2026, the brand pulled the covers off something very China-specific, very bold. It’s called the Hyundai Ioniq V China exclusive EV. And honestly, this one doesn’t feel like just another electric SUV. It feels like Hyundai is quietly rewriting its China game plan. Step by step. No noise, just intent.
Futuristic Design Inspired by Venus Concept
You look at it once, and you’ll notice this thing looks almost unreal. The front gets those slim H-shaped DRLs, connected by a dark strip. Very futuristic. Almost concept-car-ish. The bumper houses the main lights, tucked low, a bit unusual but clean.

You also get a coloured HUD floating in front of you. Steering wheel? 3-spoke, touch-sensitive controls. Bit futuristic, bit distracting maybe. Ambient lighting is everywhere, subtle but present. Audio comes from an 8-speaker setup with Dolby Atmos support. Fancy stuff, yes. The Hyundai Ioniq V features list feels like Hyundai just threw in everything it had. But somehow it works. Not perfect, but it works.
Range, Performance and China Strategy
Now the important bit. Range. Hyundai says the long-range version can go over 600km (CLTC). That’s a strong claim. No doubts there. Standard version will sit below that, obviously.
This is where Hyundai China EV strategy becomes clear. It’s not a one-car story. It’s a full lineup plan. Reports suggest around 20 new models in pipeline under the joint venture with BAIC.
