Mahindra XUV 7XO facelift or just a meh upgrade?
First up, the XUV 7XO. Debut on Jan 5 so right at the start of the month, a heavy hitter drops. My personal take if you’ve driven the old XUV700, you’ll know the cabin felt a bit dated, climate controls were buttons on buttons, and the software seemed stuck in 2010. In this new 7XO, the triple screen setup and soft-touch surfaces feel nice, but honestly, it’s a lukewarm improvement some wow factor is missing.
I expected the ADAS system to be genuinely useful. But in the showroom drive, the level‑2 assist sometimes confused on the highway lane-keeping, just like a GPS that itself loses the way.

2026 Kia Seltos refreshing or overhyped?
Kia Seltos launched on Jan 2. My honest take the design and cabin feel more mature, more premium than the old Seltos. Trinity display, panoramic sunroof all good. But keep in mind, the engine lineup is largely the same as the past 3 years. Diesel lovers or performance freaks might feel a bit of a shortage of excitement. And yes, a buyer asked in the showroom Is this better than the Creta? my straight answer to some extent yes, but both have their own fan base.

Nissan Gravite coolest budget MPV?
Nissan Gravite is confirmed for launch on January 21. A small story once I drove the Triber for a review with a family in Goa. Kids in the back were struggling with seatbelts, and the boot space groaned under all the luggage. Gravite, built on a similar platform but with modern design and features, seems to use space smarter.
Price-wise it looks interesting MPVs with that kind of value are rare. But thinking about real-world mileage and the 1.0L petrol engine (18–20 kmpl) highway runs could be tiring.

Renault Duster icon back in action?
Duster’s new-gen is coming on Jan 26. Looking at it brings back memories the 2013 first-gen Duster I drove on Delhi–Shimla roads for a review, rugged suspension, king of rough streets. The new model is obviously more modern, with connected tail lamps and tech.
My concern platform sharing could make the turbo petrol feel a bit bland. The company claims ~150 PS and focus on torque, but on highway overtakes, a slight delay wouldn’t surprise me.

Maruti eVitara tease (delayed), Punch facelift spark
If you’re an EV fan, the issue is Maruti eVitara’s official sale might shift to March January brings only announcements and teasers. This means India’s electric SUV crowd is a bit on edge. Range claims look good, but until real owners report, I stay skeptical. A friend drove a Nexon EV smooth under 50 km/h traffic, but on the highway when the range indicator dropped at 20%, I realized the claimed vs real-world gap is real.

Tata Punch facelift is a small refresh functional, yes, but not much wow factor.
My final personal sense January 2026 market Overall, this month is special because new stuff is coming across segments from budget MPVs to slightly premium SUVs. But straight upmany launches feel incremental some models come with design tweaks and screen upgrades only. The real game-changer depends on EV execution in the real world and dealer delivery timelines.
